In Punjab India as many as 142 cases have been confirmed so far this year. In Gujarat India 92 deaths were reported in the past year, most between 15 and 45 years old. In Uganda 24 cases have been reported this year; 4 deaths have been reported out of the 74 cases reported in 2010. Hepatitis B is a liver disease. It can range in severity from a mild illness to a serious long-term (chronic) illness that can lead to liver disease or liver cancer. Vaccination is recommended.
